Telecom Minister urged joint efforts to curb the spread of corona infection

Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar emphasized a joint effort by all to combat the ongoing spread of coronavirus. He suggested making a strong base to prevent the spread before getting infected by the coronavirus. Physicians, administration, public representatives, socio-cultural and voluntary organizations need to work together to improve the existing situation, he opined, The Minister said that the role of local people's representatives in creating awareness among the general public to observe health rules including maintaining social distance and use of masks was immense. He was speaking as the chief guest at a meeting organized by Netrokona District Corona Prevention Committee on Tuesday night. The meeting was presided over by Kazi Md Abdur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner, Netrokona where State Minister for Social Welfare Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru, Member of Parliament Asim Kumar Ukil, Mayor Nazrul Islam Khan, Jakia Sultana, Secretary to Ministry of Industries, local civil surgeon, principal of the medical college, Superintendent of Police, CO of BGB, Chairmen of different Upazilas and UNO of the Upazila spoke on the overall corona situation in Netrokona. The Minister of Posts and Telecommunications emphasized the need for short-term, medium-term and long-term planning to address the challenge of corona infection locally. Since the nature of the corona virus is constantly changing and the Delta variants have worsened the situation in neighboring countries, we have to be more cautious irrespective of urban and rural areas. People had an idea as if Corona was a disease for cities only. But now the situation is reversed. The coronavirus is spreading in the village even faster. He advised the concerned people to take special precautions in the border Upazilas to prevent the spread of the Delta variant. Emphasizing creating a complete medical system for corona patients at Netrokona Sadar, the minister said it would be difficult to save the town from the pandemic if the corona treatment equipment including oxygen, CCU, ICU and ventilator could not be provided in time. He said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has made every effort to overcome this pandemic and so far she has been dealing with it successfully. He reminded us that there is no shortage of anything starting from medical equipment. We have to be vigilant so that mismanagement does not lead to failure to all achievements of the government. "Each of us has to work from our own position to deal with the crisis", he said. He further advised the administration to work with a combination of humanity and austerity to make the ongoing lockdown a success. The overall Corona situation in the district was highlighted in a PowerPoint presentation at the meeting. Speakers at the event stressed the need for strict adherence to the ongoing lockdown to control the severity of the Corona situation.
